VP Product-DarwinAI

Are you an experienced product leader looking to join a cutting-edge AI startup on a mission to unleash the possibilities of explainable AI? Have you successfully spearheaded a startup’s roadmap definition and product direction, and does the idea of  defining new product offerings in a space where none exist get you excited? If so, this might be the opportunity for you.

Who Is DarwinAI And How Are They Changing The World?

DarwinAI is a cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence startup that lives at the very precipice of deep learning innovation.

Based in Waterloo, their technology stems from years of scholarship by their academic team and led by Dr. Alexander Wong, Canada’s Research Chair in Artificial Intelligence.

DarwinAI’s technology uses AI itself to accelerate and enhance Deep Learning Development. Their patented IP allows organizations to build AI they can trust and has been used by Autonomous Vehicle, Aerospace, Defense, Financial Services, and Healthcare clients.

Their core product, GenSynth, is an award-winning platform that accelerates deep learning in enterprises using Explainable AI (XAI). They were named a cool vendor in Gartner’s October 2019 Cool Vendors in Enterprise AI Governance and Ethical Response report and CB Insights recently named them a “high-momentum startup” in its Game-Changing Startups 2020 research report in the “AI transparency” category. They also made the CB Insights annual list of the 100 most promising private AI companies in the world.

In December, they announced a new strategic collaboration led by Honeywell Ventures. With this infusion of capital, they are well-positioned for an exciting and ambitious growth plan for 2021!

How Will I Make An Impact?

As the VP Product, you will report to and work directly with the COO, and lead a small team of 3 product managers (and growing!). You’ll be a key member of the executive leadership team, working alongside DarwinAI’s founders and leadership team to shape and refine their vision and strategy.

You’ll take ownership of an award-winning platform that accelerates deep learning in the enterprise using Explainable AI (XAI). You’ll operate at the cutting-edge of the AI landscape to craft the future of AI development for dynamic, large-scale manufacturing organizations. And you’ll set your sights on other verticals as well!

With the support of world-class researchers and talented engineers, you’ll spearhead the roadmap definition and product direction in a fluid and fast-moving market. You’ll unearth the nuances of deep learning developer end-user journeys and the needs of B2B buyers to elevate their core product as the defacto standard in its class.

How Do I Know If This Is For Me?

  • You’re looking for a position that will be invigorating, challenging, and imminently rewarding!

  • You thrive in ambiguity - you have experience taking cutting-edge technology and defining a new product offering in a truly innovative space.

  • You’re a product manager through and through - cultivating, refining, and owning platform products and roadmaps is your bread and butter!

  • You’ve worked alongside founders or executive teams in a startup environment to shape and refine vision and strategy, and you’re eager to do it again.

  • You’re a customer champion and you know what it takes to make a value proposition really resonate.

  • You’re a team player who’s worked closely with a professional services organization to figure out how users are really leveraging a product. Defining KPIs and metrics to track and drive data-oriented decisions is second nature to you.

  • You expertly walk that fine line between strategic long-term roadmap ambitions with tactical short-term feature improvements.

  • You’re known for driving the execution of features from inception through to launch and iteration based on customer feedback.

  • You’re comfortable working with and delivering requirements to engineering in a way that is precise and prioritized.

  • You know what it takes to support colleagues and peers in enterprise

Our Ideal  Candidate Looks Like:

  • You’re an experienced Product Manager, with startup experience (ideally enterprise B2B).

  • You’ve fully owned a product and the responsibilities of that ownership (consensus-building, decision-making, collaboration, and more!).

  • You love feedback, and you’re skilled at harmonizing that feedback from customers, stakeholders and teammates.

  • You view and treat users with empathy, and you get laser-focused to determine what they want and ultimately need.

  • You identify as analytical and data-driven - you support your decisions with data, you’re comfortable with A/B testing tools, analytical tools, and other front-end tools.

  • Domain experience in AI/ML or leading product roadmaps in manufacturing, quality assurance or visual inspection is a plus.

Nice to have (but not necessary):

  • Familiarity with academia and/or experience working with academics

  • UX design background or experience

We’d love to hear from you - even if you don’t meet 100% of the requirements! Send a note to carly@artemiscanada.com if you or someone you know is interested!
