VP Engineering - Confidential

How Are They Changing the World?

Our client is a hardware, machine learning and software provider local to Waterloo Region. They’re privately held and profitable. They’re entering two new markets and need a strong engineering leader to help them achieve their goals.

How Will I Make An Impact?

As the VP Engineering, you will:

  • Report to the CEO and be part of the executive team

  • Support the client’s goal in diversifying revenue streams. From a technical POV, this means expanding the complexity of their tech stack to address the nuances of lateral markets.

  • Analyze, diagnose and improve the engineering team’s velocity

  • Support and guide the team in paying down technical debt

  • Expand internal engineering capacity through the development and active management of subcontracts and/or subcontractors in the fields of hardware design, software development, and AI research.

  • Separate the product roadmap from the technology roadmap - managing both - and communicating across and up the org with executives and down the org to your engineering team

  • Lead the productization and offshoot products that align with P&L goals

  • Lead the engineering team in their mentorship, skill development, and career growth

  • Support the team in person by coming into the Waterloo office 3x a week
