General Manager - ESCRYPT

Are you looking for an opportunity to lead an organization through rapid growth? Do you excel at developing relationships with executive level management, locally and globally? Are you excited about the opportunities autonomous vehicles present? Then this might be the role for you!

About ESCRYPT

Artemis Canada has partnered with ESCRYPT Canada to find a General Manager to lead them through their next stage of explosive growth.

In 2016, Germany’s Bosch Group chose to invest in the Waterloo Region through a wholly owned subsidiary called ESCRYPT Canada. The location of Waterloo was an easy choice because of the strong talent pool and research expertise in both security and automotive.

ESCRYPT Canada is a leader in embedded security, with a focus on secure connected vehicles, smart cities and Internet-of-Things (IoT). Today, their Waterloo location is the company’s technical headquarters for North America. After opening up their office three years ago, they are now a team of 35 employees - predominately engineers - and they plan to expand to over 100 in the next few years.

ESCRYPT believes that the security and privacy of every device is important. Their mission is to bring safety and peace of mind to an increasingly connected and data-driven world. As IoT continues to explode and connect even the smallest, formerly innocuous aspects of our world, ESCRYPT technology gives its customers the edge to keep data safe. Internationally active and fast growing, ESCRYPT supports all industry segments in need of security solutions for embedded systems, including automotive, industrial control systems, energy, and consumer electronics.

How will I make an impact?

ESCRYPT Canada is looking for General Manager to lead and expand their capabilities within their Canadian office.

  • You will have responsibility for all of ESCRYPT’s Waterloo-based employees and operations, and establish close alignment with the global organization of Bosch, ETAS (also wholly owned by Bosch) and ESCRYPT.

  • You will be the main brand ambassador for ESCRYPT Canada, which will involve having an outbound focus in connecting with the community and different stakeholders (ie. universities, government, Communitech, and other key stakeholders)

  • As the local team grows, you’ll play a key role in helping to hire, motivate and develop the team.

  • You will prepare, gain approvals, and monitor the implementation of the annual business plan with sales and budget targets.

How do I know if this is for me?

You’re looking to make a large impact in a senior leadership role with a broad operations mandate across an innovative organization. You’ve helped organizations navigate through high growth before, and you know how to set up successful processes and structure to best support the team.

You might come from an engineering or product management background, however your interest is now more on the people leadership side and being involved in engineering discussions from a higher level.

You have strong leadership skills and an ability to inspire a performance driven and motivated team. You also have a strong business outlook and an entrepreneurial approach to business development. You can represent a business plan and determine what needs to be accomplished to reach those goals.

You have experience developing relationships with executive level management, and ideally, experience working globally so you appreciate intercultural sensitivities.

Do I have what it takes? (Requirements)

  • A Bachelor degree from an accredited university or college. Ideally a background in engineering and/or program management.

  • 10+ years of experience including cross-disciplinary management experience in strategic sales, marketing/product management, program management, and/or business unit management.

  • Proven track record of achieving targets in a business plan with at least 5+ years senior management (i.e. director level and above)

  • Demonstrated success/accomplishments in operations management and leading entrepreneurial business growth.

  • Understanding of business unit financials, including sales planning, budgeting, and P&L management.

  • Outstanding leadership and communication ability, including the ability to bring people with diverse interests and backgrounds together to define and solve complex problems/challenges.

  • Proven ability to motivate others by setting and communicating a clear vision, strategy, and targets.

  • Familiarity (or an interest level) with automotive embedded software development and related tools and processes.

  • Flexibility to travel - likely on a quarterly basis.
