How Will I Make An Impact?

You’ll be joining MappedIn at an exciting inflection point in their growth. They raised a Series A round in December 2022 and with that investment, they’re scaling the team and doubling down on their technology and products. 

 

Reporting to the MappedIn’s Director of Finance, you’ll flex both your strategic skills and your tactical expertise. On the tactical side that will look like day-to-day bookkeeping, while taking on full-cycle accounting and month-end. Your SaaS revenue recognition and experience with SaaS metrics will make you indispensable here! 

 

On the strategic side, you’ll be joining a growing company with endless opportunities to improve and innovate. What could they do better?  Where can they optimize and automate? 

 

MappedIn is growing, and they need a Financial Controller who is excited to tackle new challenges and opportunities. For example, creating a US entity is on the horizon, so is navigating US sales tax and helping the team fill those gaps in their knowledge is top of mind. If you want to make your mark on a scaling company, this is where to do it!

How Do I Know If This Is For Me?

• You’re looking for an opportunity to support both tactical and big picture strategy work. 

• You’d consider yourself an expert on the accounting side with opportunities to also work on FP&A (if you’re eager to learn, they’re eager to mentor!). 

• You enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, a fact you learned in a prior role with a scale-up or growing organization.

• You’re looking for a team that will empower you to jump into new projects, tackle new challenges, and learn while you go.

Our Ideal Candidate Looks Like:

• Experience with revenue recognition for software subscriptions

• Strong accounting fundamentals and experience

• Proven ability to thrive in a scale-up environment

• Experience with US sales tax 

• Passion for optimizing and automating processes and systems

• Experience preparing books for year end and working with external auditors

• Local to the Toronto or Waterloo area. While MappedIn is a remote-first company, they have office locations in Toronto and Waterloo. Enthusiasm and willingness to get together with the team as needed is important!

• Nice-to-have: 

  • CPA designation

  • Experience with SR&ED and other government funding-related initiatives

• Step 1: Virtual Meeting with CFO or Director of Finance

• Step 2: In-person interviews at MappedIn’s Waterloo office with the CFO, Director of Finance, and Head of People

• Step 3: References and Offer!
