Engineering Manager - CSC Generation 

Lead the development of a powerful eCommerce platform that will enable the evolution and transformation of traditional retail.

Who Is CSC Generation?  How Are They Changing The World? 

One part eCommerce retailer, one part tech company, one part consumer finance provider and one part private equity.CSC Generation is a holding company that is transforming retail. They’ve acquired established retail brands (specifically in the home furnishing space) and are focused on restructuring and leveraging technology to ensure that they are set-up for future success. Some of the brands they now own include Z Gallerie, DirectBuy, Sur La Table, and Leaseco. 

Their ongoing strategy is to continue to acquire retail/eCommerce businesses, and re-platform/integrate them into the portfolio. Their long term plan is to consolidate the home furnishings industry, drive growth through digital, and create curated brands under one umbrella. Although they’ve grown incredibly fast, and now have 1500 employees and $500M in revenue portfolio-wide, they’ve retained the startup culture and drive.


Their engineering team operates as a shared service with assigned tech stacks/brands they support. Today, they have 2 development teams; one that focuses on new development (things like greenfield work building new vertically integrated micro-SaaS solutions), and one that is legacy app maintenance/dev. 


The Canadian development team will be focused on the eCommerce platform and LeaseCo solutions, the critical financing components of the integrated product.  They’re excited to bring onboard a lead who will own and build out the team! This leader will be hands-on initially when it comes to setting in place frameworks and architecture and over time will lead a team to migrate acquisitions to their new platform. Some examples of projects this leader will do include: e-commerce platform as a service (building a proprietary e-commerce platform to be used across all our current and future brands), building high performing e-commerce websites/improving the shopping experience, re-platforming legacy tech w/modern

How Will I Make An Impact?

  • We're looking for a leader who can still push code; who loves to profile, tinker, refactor, and engineer. This is a hands-on role, designed to lead product and architecture, contribute as an individual, and help build and retain a world-class team. 

  • We employ an agile, data-driven approach to building products. We use feedback from users to guide our roadmap; we deploy continuously throughout the day and automatically scale our infrastructure to handle high demand.

  • Your day to day will vary but include:

  • Owning the platform tech stack: JavaScript, node.js, react.js, python, elasticsearch, MySQL, and AWS

  • Identifying and resolving technical challenges, building new features, building and implementing the roadmap/strategy, scaling the platform

  • Being the point of contact for business teams, communicating technical details, pushing back on requests when needed

  • Building a team of developers, pushing the team and driving productivity

  • You're someone who isn't afraid to take ownership of a product or process and run with it. You're ready to run your team your way.

  • You like having other senior devs around you that can push you forward by challenging you.

  • Has experience leading a development team in a high growth startup

  • Has senior-level engineering experience in javascript (react/node.js), PostgreSQL, and AWS

  • We need someone who is both hands-on/coding daily/completing deliverables and can build a team over the next 12 months
