Powerhouse Controls is a Canadian automation and industrial technology company building mission-critical systems for some of the world’s most recognizable manufacturers. Within their Digital Transformation Group, they’ve launched NEXIA — a groundbreaking intralogistics platform that unifies robotics systems, logistics workflows, and plant-floor operations into one operational language and control interface. As deployments scale beyond automotive into diversified manufacturing environments, usability and clarity are becoming central to adoption. UX is no longer a “nice to have” — it’s foundational to how NEXIA evolves and scales globally.
· You will be the first dedicated UI/UX Designer on the NEXIA platform, transforming an engineer-built interface into a scalable, user-centered experience
· Simplify complex workflows used to monitor robots, configure systems, manage operations, and troubleshoot issues in real-world industrial environments
· Design end-to-end UX across onboarding, configuration, daily operations, and troubleshooting
· Build and govern a scalable design system as the product evolves
· Create wireframes, interaction models, and prototypes to validate ideas early
· Design responsive cross-platform interfaces (desktop and tablet, with future mobile expansion)
· Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Implementation teams
· Reduce support burden, training friction, and onboarding complexity while increasing operational clarity
· I enjoy simplifying complex technical systems into intuitive workflows
· I’m comfortable being the sole designer and setting direction independently
· I can move quickly and iterate without heavy process or bureaucracy
· I’m confident giving candid design feedback and rationale
· I prefer shipping real improvements over debating them endlessly
· I balance visual polish with operational clarity and usability
· I like collaborating closely with engineers and product teams
· I’m motivated by impact over hierarchy
· I have a continuous improvement mindset
· I’m thoughtful about confidentiality in customer-facing environments
· 3+ years designing digital products or platforms (B2B or operational software preferred)
· Strong end-to-end UX thinking demonstrated in portfolio
· Experience creating wireframes, prototypes, and interaction models (Figma or similar)
· Experience designing responsive cross-platform interfaces (desktop + tablet required; mobile a plus)
· Solid understanding of UX principles, interaction design, and usability best practices
· Ability to clearly articulate and defend design decisions
· Comfortable collaborating closely with engineering teams in agile environments
· Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
· Experience designing complex, data-driven, or multi-user systems (nice to have)
· Exposure to industrial automation, AMRs, SCADA, or OT systems (nice to have)
