Technical Product Manager - Wagepoint

Who Is Wagepoint & How Are They Changing the World

Wagepoint is one of Canada’s leading payroll software companies focused on helping small businesses simplify payroll, onboarding, time tracking, and employee management. Over the last year, the company has undergone a major transformation -  launching a refreshed brand, mobile app, timesheet integration capabilities, and wrapping up the migration from its legacy 1.0 platform to a modern 2.0 architecture.

As the company nears completion of this platform transformation, Wagepoint is entering a new chapter focused on product expansion, ecosystem partnerships, embedded payroll, APIs, and AI-enabled experiences. The company is now investing in the next generation of technical product talent to help shape what comes next.

How Will I Make An Impact?
  • Own and shape Wagepoint’s growing integrations and platform strategy
  • Partner closely with Engineering leadership to evolve Wagepoint’s public API and future marketplace ecosystem
  • Conduct customer, partner, and market research to identify strategic integration opportunities
  • Drive discovery and prioritization for new technical integrations with strategic partners
  • Collaborate with external partners to define technical requirements, workflows, and shared business opportunities
  • Help evaluate and shape new AI-powered product experiences across the platform
  • Work closely with senior engineering stakeholders on highly technical initiatives involving APIs, MCPs, integrations, automation, and backend platform capabilities
  • Translate complex technical opportunities into clear product strategy, roadmap priorities, and execution plans
  • Influence how Wagepoint evolves beyond payroll into a more connected SMB platform ecosystem
How Do I Know If This Is For Me?
  • You’ve spent 7+ years in Product Management, ideally within SaaS, fintech, payroll, HR tech, or highly regulated software environments
  • You enjoy highly technical product work involving APIs, integrations, platform infrastructure, automation, or AI-enabled experiences
  • You’re comfortable partnering hand-in-hand with senior engineers on technical design, API contracts, data flows, and architectural tradeoffs — you can own the "what" and "why" while engineering owns the "how"
  • You’re energized by greenfield product opportunities rather than maintaining mature products
  • You can act as a credible voice with both internal stakeholders and external partners — you can run a partner conversation, an engineering design review, and a launch readout all in the same week
  • You’ve worked on products involving integrations, embedded experiences, workflows, marketplaces, or developer ecosystems
  • You’re comfortable defining success metrics for everything you ship (adoption, reliability, partner activation, AI feature engagement) and using them to drive continuous improvement
  • You are curious about AI products and excited by the potential of copilots, automation, natural language workflows, or AI-powered user experiences
  • You thrive in environments where priorities evolve quickly and teams are scaling
  • You are highly collaborative, self-directed, and comfortable owning ambiguous problem spaces
Our Ideal Candidate Looks Like:
  • Strong technical Product Management experience with APIs, integrations, or platform products
  • Experience in fintech, payroll, HR tech, accounting tech, compliance-heavy products, or SMB SaaS environments is highly valued
  • Exposure to embedded product strategies, developer ecosystems, or marketplace/API strategies would be highly valuable
  • Experience partnering deeply with Engineering on backend-heavy product initiatives
  • Ability to conduct deep product discovery, market analysis, and customer research
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills internally and externally
  • Comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution
  • Comfortable with modern AI/LLM tooling — prompt design, evaluation frameworks, RAG patterns, and model selection tradeoffs
  • You're familiar with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP), CI/CD, and observability tooling
  • A strong ownership mindset and a bias toward measurable outcomes over shipped features
