Vice President, Sales & Business Development - Solace Power

Who Is Solace Power & How Are They Changing the World

Imagine a world where products are no longer limited by wires. That's the future Solace Power is helping create. This Canadian deep tech company has pioneered proprietary wireless power and data technology that gives manufacturers the freedom to rethink how products are designed, built and used.

Headquartered in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador, Solace's 75-person team is bringing this technology to life across telecommunications, aerospace and defence, automotive and beyond.

Now, Solace is entering an exciting new chapter, transitioning from years of breakthrough R&D into commercial scale. Its Nova wireless power module recently entered high-volume production, allowing outdoor 5G equipment to receive power wirelessly through windows, eliminating the need to drill holes or run cables. With initial orders secured and multi-million-dollar engineering and development programs underway with global industry leaders, Solace is building significant commercial momentum. With applications spanning countless industries, this is only the beginning.

Built on bold ideas, teamwork and a culture that values diversity of thought, Solace has earned recognition including the Boeing Silver Level Performance Excellence Award, Deloitte's Technology Fast 50™/Companies-to-Watch and Best Places to Work in Atlantic Canada awards in 2024 and 2025.

How Will I Make An Impact?

As a member of Solace's executive leadership team, you'll play a key role in shaping the company's next phase of growth. You'll be accountable for sales and commercial strategy and execution, building the people, processes and partnerships needed to scale revenue while contributing meaningful market and customer insights to the company's broader strategic direction.

  • Lead sales and go-to-market strategy, with a near-term focus on scaling Nova, Solace's through-glass wireless power module for the telecom + smart home markets.
  • Build new global customer and partner relationships and lead complex technical sales opportunities, from evaluation and integration through commercial agreements.
  • Bring market and customer insight into executive discussions to help shape which applications, markets and product platforms to pursue over the next 2-3 years.
  • Work with engineering and product teams to connect customer needs with technical feasibility and realistic delivery commitments.
  • Build, lead and develop a high-performing Sales and Business Development team, attracting and hiring the right talent, establishing clear expectations and creating a culture where people are motivated to contribute, perform and grow.
  • Partner with marketing on customer education, positioning, account priorities and demand generation.
  • Deepen strategic relationships with global partners and customers across telecom, aerospace, defence and automotive, alongside the CEO and team members.
  • Establish and continuously improve a disciplined, scalable sales approach, including opportunity qualification, account planning, pipeline management, CRM practices, forecasting and performance measurement

How Do I Know If This Is For Me?

  • You enjoy both pursuing business today and helping decide what a company should build and sell next.
  • You bring the technical curiosity and commercial judgment to clearly articulate the value of Solace's technology to business and technical audiences, recognizing where it creates differentiated value, as well as where it may not be the right solution.
  • You have patience for lengthy evaluations and procurement, while creating clear next steps that keep opportunities moving.
  • You enjoy coaching highly capable people who are still developing their sales experience.
  • You contribute a point of view, listen carefully and work well in an executive team that debates ideas and commits to shared decisions.
  • You are comfortable with frequent customer and partner travel (both nationally and internationally) and regular visits to Newfoundland and Labrador.

Our Ideal Candidate Looks Like:

  • An experienced commercial executive with a track record of driving growth, scaling revenue and winning complex B2B business.
  • Experience commercializing complex hardware or engineered technologies, with a strong understanding of extended sales and development cycles, manufacturing lead times, technical uncertainty and the challenges of moving products from development to scaled production.
  • Strong business development and strategic partnership experience, ideally navigating OEMs, equipment vendors or ecosystems where technology is integrated into another company's product.
  • Experience in telecommunications, aerospace and defence, advanced manufacturing, industrial technology and/or related sectors, selling complex technical solutions. Note: telecom is the immediate priority, and expertise across all markets isn't expected.
  • The technical curiosity and fluency to understand and communicate complex engineered products to business and technical decision-makers.
  • The strategic judgment to influence company-wide decisions, using customer insights, market opportunities and engineering input to shape future direction.
  • A track record of leading, developing and retaining sales teams while remaining hands-on with key opportunities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience building relationships globally and across all organizational levels.
