Senior Applied Data Scientist (UK) — MindBridge

Who Is MindBridge & How Are They Changing the World

MindBridge is an AI-powered financial risk intelligence company helping finance and audit professionals analyze large, complex datasets, identify unusual transactions, and surface financial risk faster. Having analyzed more than 120 billion transactions, MindBridge is building explainable, interpretable AI for highly regulated financial environments while making advanced analytics practical for professionals outside technology.

How Will I Make An Impact?
  • Lead applied data science workstreams for strategic UK client engagements alongside the Global Services team, translating business needs into practical data requirements, analytical approaches, and deliverables.
  • Work directly with clients to understand their business processes, source systems, data structures, and analytical requirements across complex, multi-entity environments.
  • Use SQL and Python to profile, join, transform, validate, and analyze incomplete or inconsistent financial and operational datasets.
  • Develop model-ready analytical datasets, mappings, and features that support anomaly detection, risk analytics, statistical analysis, and machine-learning applications.
  • Investigate data-quality issues alongside clients and finance, audit, and accounting subject-matter experts, clearly communicating findings, limitations, and trade-offs.
  • Partner across Data Science, Data Engineering, Development, Product, Customer Success, Account Management, and Global Services to deliver strong client and product outcomes.
  • Turn learning from individual engagements into reusable, client-agnostic templates and artifacts that make future delivery more scalable.
  • As the analytical foundations mature, contribute to experimentation, model evaluation, and the continued evolution of MindBridge’s data science capabilities.
How Do I Know If This Is For Me?
  • You enjoy working directly with clients and can guide non-data-savvy stakeholders through complex problems in clear, practical language.
  • You are comfortable moving between detailed data investigation, hands-on implementation, and higher-level business conversations.
  • You can work independently in ambiguity, ask sharp questions, and proactively move a workstream forward after an initial handoff.
  • You like understanding how a business process works before translating it into data requirements and analytical features.
  • You are motivated by applied problem-solving more than pure research or model building alone.
  • You can collaborate with a largely Canada-based Data Science team and accommodate meaningful overlap with Eastern Time when required.
  • You are comfortable being based in the UK, working remotely, and travelling occasionally for client workshops or company events.
Our Ideal Candidate Looks Like:
  • Professional experience in applied data science, advanced analytics, analytics consulting, technical consulting, or another client-facing technical role.
  • Strong hands-on SQL and Python experience working with complex, incomplete, inconsistent, or poorly documented datasets.
  • Evidence of building analytical datasets, feature sets, data mappings, or model-ready data from real-world source systems.
  • Experience leading analytical workstreams from requirements gathering and data discovery through validation and delivery.
  • Strong data storytelling skills and the ability to explain methods, data limitations, trade-offs, and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Solid statistical analysis and machine-learning fundamentals, with practical judgment about when a model (or a simpler analytical approach) is appropriate.
  • Finance, accounting, audit, ERP, or transactional-data experience is an asset, not a strict requirement.
  • Familiarity with privacy, security, or governance requirements such as GDPR, CCPA, or ISO-related standards is an asset.
