Occupier is a modern lease management and accounting platform built specifically for tenants. It gives real estate and finance teams one place to centralize lease data, automate compliance, manage critical dates, and work from the same source of truth.

Today, more than 400 customers manage over 100,000 leases in Occupier. They’re now pushing the category forward again by embedding AI directly into lease workflows - not as a side experiment, but as a dependable part of how customers find information and get work done.

How Will I Make An Impact?

• Build and ship customer-facing product features end-to-end within Occupier’s Ruby on Rails application.
• Help bring AI-powered capabilities into Occupier’s production product using existing AI technologies, APIs, and tooling.
• Own problems from concept through implementation, deployment, and iteration rather than simply executing against detailed specifications.
• Partner closely with product to turn customer and business problems into practical technical solutions.
• Bring external production AI experience and learnings into an engineering team that has largely developed its AI expertise internally.
• Help Occupier determine how AI capabilities should be thoughtfully integrated into a mature flagship product serving thousands of users.
• Work as a hands-on individual contributor in an extremely lean environment where ownership and speed matter.
• Contribute to both core product engineering and the company’s evolving AI product strategy. The exact split between the two is still being calibrated.

How Do I Know If This Is For Me?

• You’re energized by being given a problem, not a blueprint.
• You want to stay hands-on and build
• You’ve worked in Ruby on Rails and are comfortable building and scaling SaaS products
• You’ve taken AI-powered functionality beyond a prototype and into a real production application
• You enjoy owning customer-facing features from backend through frontend and deployment
• You’re comfortable making progress when requirements are ambiguous or the team hasn’t solved the problem before
• You work well without layers of specialists around you and can independently fill gaps when necessary
• You’re interested in applying AI to practical customer workflows 
• You want meaningful influence over what gets built and how it gets built

Our Ideal Candidate Looks Like:

• Senior-level individual contributor with strong Ruby on Rails experience
• Full-stack/product engineering background with experience shipping customer-facing SaaS functionality end-to-end
• Has built and deployed AI-powered features into production, rather than only experimenting with AI or using AI coding tools
• Understands the practical realities of integrating AI into production software
• Has experience deploying and operating production applications in a cloud environment
• High-agency and independently capable: can understand a problem, identify an approach, and go build it
• Comfortable on a very small team and motivated by autonomy and ownership.
• Product-minded: thinks beyond implementation to whether what they are building actually solves the user problem
• Still actively codes and wants to remain a hands-on builder
• Experience from another organization shipping production AI capabilities would be particularly valuable given the existing engineering team’s long tenure at Occupier

Salary: Annual compensation is expected to exceed $200,000 CAD
