Product Manager, Platform and Innovation Studio | Priority Commerce

Who Is Priority Commerce & How Are They Changing the World?

Priority is a financial technology company helping businesses move money more efficiently. Through the Priority Commerce Engine, the company brings together payables, merchant acquiring, banking, and treasury solutions within a unified commerce platform.

Priority supports businesses across a broad financial ecosystem—from small business owners through enterprise customers—with technology that powers how organizations accept payments, manage working capital, and run their financial operations.

In Waterloo, Priority is building an Innovation Studio focused on the future of commerce, payments, and AI-enabled product development. The team is exploring both how financial products evolve and how AI changes the way Product and Engineering teams discover, define, and deliver software.

This role sits at the intersection of those two worlds. Success isn't about being the deepest technical expert—it’s about understanding how customers and software partners experience Priority's products, then partnering across Product, Design, Engineering, and the business to turn complex platform capabilities into intuitive, commercially successful products that software companies can easily adopt.

How Will I Make an Impact?

As Product Manager, Platform and Innovation Studio, you'll help shape how software companies discover, adopt, and build on Priority Commerce Engine.

You'll focus on turning Priority's commerce capabilities into intuitive, reusable products that Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) can easily embed into their own software. You'll partner closely with Engineering, Design, Partner Solutions, and business stakeholders to understand customer needs, define product direction, and bring new capabilities successfully to market. This is a unique opportunity to help define how software companies adopt Priority's next generation of embedded financial products while working alongside a team reimagining how Product Management itself evolves through AI.

In this role you will:

  • Take ownership of the product definition, research, and launch-readiness work required to bring Priority's embeddable component library to market, partnering closely with Product leadership on broader product strategy.
  • Help define and evolve the roadmap for reusable web and mobile components, including embedded payment experiences, white-label capabilities, and customer-facing widgets.
  • Develop a deep understanding of how software partners adopt and integrate Priority's platform, identifying opportunities to improve onboarding, documentation, product adoption, and overall customer experience.
  • Work closely with Partner Solutions and customers to validate problems, gather feedback, and translate real-world needs into product priorities.
  • Partner with UX and Design to simplify complex financial workflows into intuitive, reusable product experiences.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to define requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and ensure technical decisions support a strong customer and developer experience.
  • Help shape product positioning through market research, competitive analysis, pricing recommendations, packaging, and go-to-market planning.
  • Coordinate launch readiness across Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Customer Support to ensure new capabilities are successfully introduced to market.
  • Bring strong Product Management judgment by asking the right questions, challenging assumptions constructively, and helping teams determine whether they're solving the right customer problems.
  • Contribute to the evolution of AI-enabled Product Management by incorporating AI tools and agentic workflows into product discovery, planning, documentation, and execution.

How Do I Know If This Is For Me?

You'll likely enjoy this opportunity if you enjoy connecting technical products with real customer outcomes.

You're someone who naturally asks "How will customers actually use this?" rather than simply "Can we build it?"

You'll enjoy this role if you like:

  • Owning products from early discovery through launch and continuous improvement.
  • Working across Product, Design, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Customer teams.
  • Simplifying complex technical capabilities into products customers can easily understand and adopt.
  • Understanding how software partners experience onboarding, integration, documentation, support, and long-term product adoption.
  • Turning customer feedback into practical product improvements.
  • Working in ambiguity while independently bringing forward ideas, proposals, and recommendations.
  • Learning new domains quickly and becoming a trusted product partner within a collaborative team.
  • Exploring how AI can improve both customer products and the way Product teams work internally.

Our Ideal Candidate Looks Like

We're looking for a Product Manager who is equally comfortable thinking about customers, product experiences, and the technical platform that powers them.

  • Approximately 5+ years of Product Management experience, or comparable experience demonstrating increasing ownership of complex B2B software platform products.
  • Experience owning embedded, white-label, configurable, widget-based, or component-library products that customers or software partners actively adopt.
  • Experience building products for software partners, ISVs, developers, or technically sophisticated customer personas, with a strong understanding of customer onboarding, integration workflows, and product adoption.
  • Strong customer-facing Product Management experience, including customer discovery, validation, and translating customer feedback into product decisions.
  • Technical fluency and curiosity, with the ability to confidently partner with Engineering, understand platform architecture, and make thoughtful product trade-offs without needing to be the technical expert in the room.
  • Experience partnering closely with UX and Design to simplify complex workflows into intuitive customer experiences.
  • Experience contributing to go-to-market planning, including launch readiness, pricing, positioning, competitive analysis, or cross-functional product launches.
  • Demonstrated ability to bring structure to ambiguity—taking loosely defined problems, conducting research, forming recommendations, and driving work forward with minimal direction.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear customer and business language.
  • Strong Product Management judgment—comfortable asking the right questions, challenging assumptions constructively, and bringing thoughtful recommendations forward rather than waiting for direction.
  • An ownership mindset with the ability to thrive in ambiguity, independently driving work forward while collaborating closely with Product leadership.
  • Demonstrated use of AI tools or AI-enabled workflows to improve product discovery, planning, documentation, communication, or execution.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience within payments, fintech, commerce, banking, or another regulated industry.
  • Direct experience with embedded payments, payment widgets, checkout experiences, SDKs, or financial component libraries.
  • Experience launching products that required coordination across Legal, Compliance, Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Support.
  • Experience working within a platform or ecosystem strategy where multiple products or services are brought together into a unified customer experience.
