Who Is Rove Travel & How Are They Changing the World
Rove Travel is a luxury vacation rental and furnished living marketplace rethinking how premium properties are managed and booked. Operating across New York City, The Hamptons, South Florida, and Aspen, Rove brings together a high-touch guest experience with powerful, software-led infrastructure. Their long-term vision is ambitious: to build the defining platform for luxury rentals while making the underlying work of operating premium properties dramatically more intelligent and automated.
A major part of that strategy is Andora.ai, Rove’s free, AI-enabled property-management operating system for professional hosts and property managers. Andora brings cross-channel guest messaging, AI-assisted communication, calendar and availability management, operational workflows, revenue analytics, dynamic-pricing support, and distribution into one operating layer. The bet is deliberately product-led: give operators software they genuinely want to use, compress the time it takes them to get value through automation, and create a natural path for high-quality inventory to reach RoveTravel.com. That means the engineering problems are not abstract AI demos — they are real production problems around agents, integrations, data synchronization, reliability, and product quality.
How Will I Make An Impact?
Rove is hiring three senior Product Engineers who will share the same level of ownership, but bring different technical strengths across AI, platform, and front-end product craft. The team is building across both Andora and the Rove marketplace, and engineers can move between the two as product priorities and individual strengths evolve. You will stay close to the product, the customer, and the underlying systems rather than disappearing into a narrow engineering lane.
- Own large, ambiguous problem spaces end-to-end, from understanding the user and technical problem through design, implementation, production, iteration, and scale
- Work directly with the CTO and a small product team to make pragmatic technical decisions quickly, without waiting for perfect specs or heavy process
- Help evolve a legacy JavaScript codebase into a cleaner, more modern, and scalable system while balancing refactors, rewrites, and shipping speed
- Turn the manual, operations-heavy work of running properties into durable software and automation inside Andora — reducing repetitive operator work while keeping reliability and human control where it matters
- Build and use AI agents as real production systems — including workflows such as guest communication and operational task handling — while also using modern AI developer tooling to increase engineering output
- Raise the bar for engineering quality without introducing unnecessary complexity or process
How Do I Know If This Is For Me?
- You like early-stage environments where senior engineers are expected to stay close to the work and own outcomes, not just architecture or tickets
- You are comfortable making product decisions, challenging assumptions, and improving a system over time rather than waiting for exhaustive requirements
- You care about simplicity, reliability, and quality, and you know when to use existing tooling versus when the right answer is to build something yourself
- You have strong product intuition and think in terms of users, workflows, and business outcomes
- You are low-ego, highly collaborative, and comfortable working directly with a CTO, product partners, and operators
- You are excited by marketplaces, travel, property technology, or complex operational products; prior PMS experience is a plus, not a requirement
- You are based in or close to the Eastern Time Zone, with Toronto, Montreal, or New York City preferred
Three Ways You Could Fit
Rove is intentionally open to three different technical profiles. You do not need to match all three. The common bar is senior-level ownership, strong product judgment, and the ability to ship meaningful systems in a small team.
Path 1: AI / Agent Systems
- You have put agents into production and understand the difference between an impressive prototype and a dependable production system
- You have built or extended an agent harness and the tooling around it: orchestration, tool use, evaluation, observability, guardrails, retries, failure handling, and the surrounding developer experience
- Experience at an AI developer-tooling, agent-infrastructure, or orchestration company is a strong signal
- You are comfortable using the best existing agent tooling where it works and building the missing layer where it does not, rather than stacking abstractions on top of weak foundations
- Your strength is applied agent systems and production orchestration rather than model research or training
- Bonus: you have worked with property-management systems (PMS), hospitality software, operational tooling, or similarly workflow-heavy products where agents have to interact safely with real customer and business data
Path 2: Platform / Integrations
- You lean backend or platform and have worked on systems where reservations, calendars, availability, pricing, customer data, and operational state have to stay correct across multiple external products and sources of truth
- You have built and owned a meaningful set of integrations, including APIs, webhooks, authentication, retries, idempotency, reconciliation, monitoring, and messy third-party edge cases — exactly the kind of plumbing required for Andora to sit reliably across PMS, channel, payments, and other operating systems
- Experience at an integration-platform company such as Merge.dev or a comparable business is a strong signal
- A strong full-stack generalist can also fit this path if you have real backend depth and have personally solved complex integration or data-sync problems
- Marketplace or travel-platform experience can be especially relevant, including the right product or platform teams at companies such as Airbnb
Path 3: Front-End / Product Craft
- You are a front-end-leaning product engineer who cares deeply about the quality of what reaches the user, whether that is an operator running properties in Andora or a guest or owner interacting with the Rove marketplace
- You can push product quality forward through stronger interaction patterns, component standards, consistency, and attention to details such as copy, typography, color, spacing, loading and error states, and the many edge cases that show up in operational software
- You think seriously about performance, responsiveness, accessibility, and the feel of a product in production
- You know how to create reusable standards and systems that improve consistency and speed without turning product craft into bureaucracy
- You are still a product engineer: comfortable moving across the stack when needed and owning the outcome rather than handing work off at the UI boundary
Across All Three Paths
- You are a senior engineer with a strong JavaScript or TypeScript background and can confidently understand and improve an existing codebase
- You have owned and shipped real products, potentially as an early engineer, founding engineer, or ex-founder
- You stay hands-on, communicate clearly, and make thoughtful trade-offs between speed, quality, and long-term maintainability
- You actively use AI-assisted development tools and are interested in how agents are changing the way strong engineering teams work
