How Will I Make An Impact?
As a hands-on technical leader, you’ll define and drive the future of Android development at Questrade. You’ll set the technical vision for how native and cross-platform technologies connect, ensuring the mobile experience is fast, secure, and built to scale for millions of Canadians.

You will:

• Define and execute the long-term strategy for native Android development, aligning with business goals and emerging industry trends.
  
• Architect, design, and deliver complex, high-performance Android applications using modern frameworks like Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and Room.
  
• Mentor and coach engineers across the mobile team, fostering technical excellence and collaboration within the Android domain.
  
• Lead efforts to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimizing real-time data streaming and app responsiveness.
  
• Establish and uphold Android engineering best practices for testing, CI/CD, and performance optimization.
  
• Research and prototype emerging technologies, including AI tools and frameworks, to improve developer productivity and user experience.
  
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering leadership to shape the roadmap and ensure seamless integration across platforms.

You’re a senior Android engineer who thrives on solving complex problems and leading teams toward technical excellence. You’ve built, scaled, and optimized applications that perform beautifully under pressure, and you care deeply about both architecture and user experience.

You might be a fit if you:

• Bring deep, hands-on expertise in Kotlin and Java, and know your way around Android frameworks like Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and Room.
  
• Have led or influenced technical direction for large-scale, high-performance Android applications.
  
• Are comfortable optimizing for speed, memory, and real-time data streaming, using tools like the Android Profiler.
  
• Have experience working within or alongside React Native, bridging native and cross-platform capabilities.
  
• Communicate clearly, collaborate across disciplines, and make pragmatic, long-term decisions.
  
• Stay curious and current — exploring new Android frameworks, Google technologies, and ways AI can enhance development.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with iOS (Swift/Objective-C) development for a broader cross-platform perspective.
• Fintech, investing, or trading knowledge or experience
