How Will I Make An Impact?

Reporting to the Director of Production Engineering,

  • You will own the end-to-end incident management and disaster recovery program for the Brokerage.
  • You will take decisive command during high-severity incidents, whether it’s a cloud provider outage, a third-party dependency failure, or a production degradation impacting customers trading in real time.
  • You’ll serve as the calm, authoritative voice in the storm, translating complex technical realities into clear, trusted executive updates.
  • You’ll align engineering, infrastructure, security, compliance, call centre leadership, and customer communications around a unified recovery plan.
  • Beyond response, you’ll build. You’ll mature the incident management and disaster recovery program, embed stronger SRE principles, refine playbooks and tooling (GCP, Kubernetes, Datadog, Splunk), and influence a culture where reliability is proactive, not reactive. This is your opportunity to go from good to great, and to leave a lasting mark on how a 24/5 trading platform operates.
How Do I Know If This Is For Me?
  • You’re calm under pressure and naturally step into leadership when stakes are high.
  • You’ve led major, business-critical incidents where downtime truly mattered.
  • You can explain a networking, cloud, or infrastructure issue to executives in 10 minutes, and they trust your update.
  • You enjoy being the connective tissue between technical teams and business leaders.
  • You’re energized by owning and evolving programs, not just executing within them.
  • You care deeply about reliability, resilience, and continuous improvement.
  • You’re comfortable being on-call for critical escalations.
  • You want visible impact in an organization where your work directly affects customers and brand reputation.
Our Ideal Candidate Looks Like:
  • Senior-level experience in Incident Management, SRE, Production Engineering, or similar high-availability environments.
  • Direct experience in business-critical digital platforms (trading, fintech, banking, large-scale digital systems, healthcare, aviation, etc.) where downtime has material impact.
  • Strong executive communication skills; you are clear, concise, and composed, even when the C-suite joins the call.
  • Deep technical breadth across cloud-native and distributed systems (GCP preferred), Kubernetes (GKE), Linux, and monitoring/observability tools such as Datadog and Splunk.
  • Solid understanding of production systems, networking concepts, and infrastructure dependencies; able to form hypotheses quickly and guide technical teams effectively.
  • Experience owning or contributing to Disaster Recovery programs and post-incident reviews.
  • A change agent mindset; you bring new ideas, elevate processes, and embed stronger SRE and reliability practices.
  • Influential and trusted; you can align engineering, compliance, privacy, customer operations, and executive stakeholders around a single recovery narrative.

We understand, accept, and value the differences between people of different backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, ages, beliefs, and abilities. The Process:
  • 30-minute intro conversation with Questrade’s Director of Production Engineering
  • In-person panel interview (1–1.5 hours) with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Technical deep dive / whiteboard session focused on incident scenarios and systems thinking
  • Final conversations with senior leadership
  • References, offer, standard background check
