Who Is Rove Travel & How Are They Changing the World?
Rove Travel is building a next-generation marketplace for exceptional homes and travel experiences.
The luxury vacation rental market is enormous, but still highly fragmented. Great inventory sits across thousands of independent property managers, local operators, brokers, and homeowners, while travellers struggle to consistently find distinctive, professionally managed properties they can trust.
Rove is building the marketplace and technology infrastructure to change that.
Today, the company has approximately 1,000 properties on the platform and is entering its next phase of growth: scaling that supply dramatically, building density in the right markets, and creating a marketplace where exceptional homes and high-value travellers increasingly find one another.
One of Rove’s advantages is Andora.ai, its free AI-enabled operating system for property managers. Andora gives operators useful software for managing their businesses while creating a differentiated path for Rove to discover, onboard, and distribute great inventory. But it is one piece of a much larger growth strategy spanning acquisition, referrals, partnerships, product, marketplace expansion, brand, and demand.
Rove is backed by investors including FJ Labs, Motley Fool Ventures, Daniel Gross, Immad Akhund, FMZ Ventures, Humbition, Gaingels, Nomad Ventures, and others.
How Will I Make an Impact?
Your immediate mandate is ambitious: help Rove grow from roughly 1,000 properties toward 10,000, while building the growth systems that can support a much larger marketplace.
You will:
- Own Rove’s growth strategy, with an initial emphasis on rapidly expanding high-quality marketplace supply.
- Identify the markets, property segments, operators, and acquisition channels where Rove can build meaningful local density and marketplace liquidity.
- Build repeatable acquisition engines across paid social, paid search, SEO, content, referrals, partnerships, lifecycle, programmatic distribution, and emerging channels.
- Develop a sophisticated performance-marketing operation across channels such as Meta and Google, including creative testing, audience development, retargeting, landing pages, CAC and ROAS management.
- Create scalable ways to reach property managers, hosts, brokers, agents, and local operators rather than relying exclusively on one-to-one sales.
- Build referral and growth loops that allow existing hosts, operators, partners, and customers to become meaningful acquisition channels.
- Work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering on onboarding, activation, conversion, lifecycle, incentives, landing experiences, and other product-led growth opportunities.
- Use Rove and Andora’s products as growth surfaces where appropriate, while continuously testing acquisition opportunities outside the product as well.
- Improve the path from initial awareness → qualified property → activated listing → live inventory → bookings and repeat transaction.
- Develop the measurement infrastructure required to understand channel performance, conversion, marketplace liquidity, CAC, LTV, and payback.
- Build a strong experimentation culture: develop hypotheses, get tests into market quickly, measure what happened, and scale what works.
- Help sharpen Rove’s positioning and storytelling for both property partners and travellers as the marketplace grows.
- Initially operate as a highly hands-on leader, while building the processes, partners, and eventually the team required for the next stage of growth.
- Over time, expand the growth mandate across both sides of the marketplace, including guest acquisition, retention, loyalty, distribution, and brand.
How Do I Know If This Is For Me?
You probably enjoy problems like:
How do we take a marketplace from 1,000 great properties to 10,000?
Which cities or categories should we attack first, and how do we create enough density for the marketplace to work?
How do we turn referrals, agents, property managers, SEO, paid acquisition, product loops, and partnerships into repeatable growth systems?
Where should technology replace manual acquisition—and where does a human touch still matter?
How do we test ten ideas quickly enough to discover the one capable of becoming a major channel?
You are comfortable moving between those strategic questions and actually shipping the work required to answer them.
You:
- Love early-stage environments where the opportunity is large but the playbook has not yet been written.
- Think naturally in terms of funnels, marketplaces, growth loops, liquidity, CAC, LTV, conversion, and compounding acquisition channels.
- Are equally comfortable in a strategy discussion with the CEO and inside the details of an acquisition experiment.
- Have strong instincts around performance marketing and experimentation, while understanding that paid media alone will not build an enduring growth engine.
- Understand how product, marketing, sales, partnerships, and operations work together to create marketplace growth.
- Move quickly and prefer real-world experiments to months of planning.
- Are deeply curious about customers and are willing to talk to hosts, operators, travellers, brokers, and partners yourself.
- Use AI aggressively where it improves the speed or quality of research, creative development, analysis, experimentation, and execution.
Our Ideal Candidate Looks Like
- Growth experience and significant ownership in a high-growth startup or technology company.
- Has held a senior growth role where they were accountable for a meaningful business outcome—not simply one marketing channel.
- Has helped build a growth engine rather than exclusively operating inside an established one.
- Brings meaningful experience with marketplaces, consumer technology, travel, hospitality, real estate, fintech, commerce, or another business with complex supply-and-demand dynamics.
- Has experience scaling acquisition through a combination of paid, organic, product, referral, lifecycle, partnership, or other growth channels.
- Understands performance marketing deeply enough to interrogate channel strategy, creative, targeting, measurement, CAC, ROAS, and agency performance.
- Has demonstrated full-funnel thinking, including acquisition, activation, conversion, retention, and monetization.
- Has partnered closely with Product and Engineering and understands how product experiences can become acquisition and retention mechanisms.
- Is highly analytical and can independently investigate what is happening in a funnel rather than waiting for an analytics team to provide the answer.
- Has operated successfully in an early-stage or growth-stage company, ideally from Series A through Series C.
- Has evidence of unusually high velocity: launching, learning, iterating, and building with limited resources.
- Founder, former founder, very early employee, marketplace operator, or similarly entrepreneurial experience is particularly interesting.
Domain experience is valuable, but Rove is more interested in sophisticated growth operators who have solved hard marketplace problems than someone who simply comes from the travel industry.
This is a role for someone who wants substantial ownership today and the opportunity to build a major growth function as Rove scales.
