Customer Discovery & Sales Lead (US Market) & Hanomi

Hanomi believes hardware should be built at the speed of software. Their AI-powered platform automates the most time-consuming parts of mechanical design, enabling mechanical engineers to create production-ready, fully compliant 2D CAD drawings in minutes instead of days.

They’re not replacing CAD. They’re augmenting it. Hanomi is rethinking the design-to-manufacturing process so mechanical engineers can focus on what matters most: innovation.

Born in San Francisco and Bangalore and backed by world-class investors like HOF Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners,  Entrepreneurs First, Precursor Ventures and others, they are just getting started.

How Will I Make An Impact?

They’ve proven the tech works, and have landed early pilots in North America, Europe, and Mexico. Now, Hanomi needs its first US-based commercial lead to take customer discovery and early sales to the next level.

As the first non-technical hire, you will be the bridge between Hanomi’s founders, customers, and product. As the Customer Discovery & Sales Lead reporting to the CEO, you will own US market customer discovery and early sales; not just pitching, but really listening, uncovering pain points, and shaping how the company scales.

  • Lead customer discovery: run thoughtful, technical conversations to deeply understand needs before selling
  • Be the primary US point of contact for customers, prospects, and pilot partners
  • Handle technical communications with confidence, answering questions about their 2D drawing AI product like an engineer
  • Scale sales operations: help them move from high-touch founder-led sales to a repeatable, distribution-ready model as they grow toward Series A
  • Bridge US and India operations: work closely with their Bangalore-based engineering team to turn customer insights into product improvements
  • Help shape their brand presence: support early marketing efforts and industry engagement to build momentum in target markets

How Do I Know If This Is For Me?

You’ll thrive at Hanomi if you’re excited by early-stage environments, want to build something that changes how engineers work, and are comfortable wearing multiple hats; from sales calls to product feedback to brand storytelling.

  • You have a mechanical engineering foundation and have built experience in, or transitioned into, early-stage sales, business development, customer discovery, or product roles
  • You excel at breaking down complex technical concepts into plain language
  • You have experience at an early-stage startup

Our Ideal Candidate Looks Like:

  • Experience selling CAD software or adjacent software products
  • Proven ability to evolve sales from founder-led pipeline to scalable distribution
  • Mechanical engineering background
  • Ownership mentality; you run the sales funnel like it’s your own company
  • Comfortable operating without all the answers, and energized by building from scratch

Nice to have:

  • Experience in a startup with strong marketing/branding (even if you weren’t the marketer)

Notes on Location and Hours:

We welcome candidates from anywhere in the US who are legally authorized to work in the US, and who are excited to eventually relocate to San Francisco.

Hanomi’s engineering team is based in India, and the founders will also be there for the next few months. We’re seeking candidates who are comfortable working with some overlap in Indian Standard Time (IST). For example, if you’re on Eastern Time (ET), typical hours might be 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. ET, which overlaps late evening IST. If you’re on Pacific Time (PT), that overlap would happen earlier in your day - for example, a 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. PT schedule.

We understand, accept, and value the differences between people of different backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, ages, beliefs, and abilities. We are happy to make any accommodations you may need throughout the interview process.  We aim to create an inclusive environment and encourage diverse individuals to apply.

The Process:

You will begin with an initial conversation with Carly at Artemis, followed by interviews with the co-founders (CEO and CTO) and one of their investors. A case or working session may be included to better understand your approach.

Your Artemis Canada partner, Carly,  will work closely with you throughout every step of the process.

We’d love to hear from you - even if you don’t meet 100% of the requirements! Send a note to Carly@artemiscanada.com if you  or someone you know is interested!
