How Will I Make An Impact? 
  • Lead and scale Borrowell’s Engineering organization, including product engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure, QA, DevOps, security, and data engineering teams
  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, partnering closely with the CEO, CPO, CRO, CFO, and broader leadership group to drive company strategy and execution
  • Help shape Borrowell’s next phase of growth by accelerating innovation, increasing organizational efficiency, and embedding AI-enabled workflows across the company
  • Champion a modern, product-led engineering culture focused on velocity, experimentation, quality, and customer impact
  • Drive the evolution of Borrowell’s AI strategy, including agentic development workflows, internal AI tooling, and scalable AI-powered product experiences
  • Partner closely with Product and Data leadership to deliver richer consumer experiences, including new credit-building features, engagement mechanics, and personalized financial recommendations
  • Build credibility and trust with a highly experienced engineering organization while coaching and developing strong technical leaders across the business
  • Balance near-term execution with long-term platform scalability, reliability, and architectural modernization
  • Represent Borrowell externally within the Canadian technology ecosystem and help strengthen the company’s reputation as a leading fintech and engineering organization
  • Help guide organizational transformation as Borrowell continues scaling its product, platform, and AI capabilities while maintaining profitability and growth

Our Ideal Candidate Looks Like: 
  • Extensive engineering leadership experience within high-growth technology companies
  • Experience leading engineering organizations ranging from approximately 50 to 150 engineers
  • Proven success scaling B2C or consumer-facing technology companies through high-growth stages, ideally within product-led organizations balancing growth and profitability
  • Strong track record building inclusive, high-performing engineering cultures and developing senior technical leaders
  • Experience driving organizational and technical transformation through AI-enabled tooling, agentic development workflows, automation, and modern engineering practices
  • Ability to balance people leadership, technical strategy, execution, and operational scalability across product engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure, DevOps, QA, and data engineering
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to advocate for engineering teams while influencing executive decision-making through logic, data, and business outcomes
  • Customer-centric, analytical, and excited by the opportunity to help millions of Canadians improve their financial well-being through technology
  • Experience in financial services is considered an asset, but not required

Location: This is a hybrid position that requires applicants to be in office ~2 days/week at 1 University Ave, Toronto. All candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

Vacancy: This role is a backfill for an existing position

Salary: Annual compensation will exceed $300,000 CAD; details to be shared if selected for an interview

The Process:

  • Introductory conversation with HR Leadership
  • Executive leadership interview with the CEO
  • Cross-functional leadership interviews with Product, Finance, Data, and Revenue leaders
  • Technical and architectural deep dive discussions
  • Informal team conversation with Engineering leadership
  • Final executive conversations and offer discussion
  • A potential leadership assessment may also be included as part of the process
