Argentic - Founding AI Product Engineer

Who Is Argentic & How Are They Changing the World?

Argentic is building the receive-side intelligence and control layer for B2B payments.

Buyer-side AP platforms have made it easier for companies to send payments, optimize payment methods, and enforce preferred workflows. Suppliers are still left handling the operational complexity of receiving those payments: card emails, ACH and wire deposits, PDF remittances, spreadsheets, portals, missing payment details, reconciliation work, and ERP posting.

Argentic is building agent-first systems that help finance teams turn that mess into controlled, auditable, ERP-ready workflows. This is not a generic AI wrapper or a generic payments product. It is a chance to build production-grade AI systems in a domain where correctness, trust, and workflow judgment matter.

This is an opportunity to join at the earliest stages and help define both the product and the engineering culture alongside an experienced founding team.

How Will I Make An Impact?
  • Design and build intelligent agent workflows that automate complex payment and remittance processes.
  • Help develop the MCP/API layer that gives AI agents access to data across email, banks, ERPs, payment networks and documents.
  • Experiment with the latest advances in agentic AI, LLMs, structured outputs, orchestration, retrieval and evaluation frameworks.
  • This role sits in a domain where plausible output is not good enough. You’ll work on payment and remittance workflows that require traceability, controls, exception handling, and a clear path from model output to trusted financial operations.
  • Help determine where AI creates value, where deterministic systems are more appropriate, and where human review belongs.
  • Work directly alongside the founders to shape product direction, technical architecture and engineering best practices.
  • Contribute to a platform designed to support both AI-curious organizations looking for out-of-the-box automation and AI-forward teams building their own custom agents.
  • Help build a product that moves from rapid experimentation into production deployments with enterprise customers.
How Do I Know If This Is For Me?
  • You are not waiting for AI practices to become standardized. You are already experimenting with models, agents, eval harnesses, structured outputs, tool use, orchestration frameworks, and human-in-the-loop workflows, and you have opinions formed from building rather than just reading.
  • You've built AI-powered systems that go well beyond simply calling an LLM API.
  • You enjoy solving messy operational problems where correctness, reliability and customer trust matter.
  • You care about how agentic systems are measured: golden datasets, regression tests, failure analysis, human review loops, confidence thresholds, and production monitoring
  • You're comfortable working with ambiguity and helping shape products that don't have all the answers defined upfront.
  • You enjoy balancing rapid experimentation with thoughtful engineering discipline.
  • You like wearing multiple hats and working closely with founders in an early-stage environment.
  • You're excited by the opportunity to influence the direction of both a product and an engineering organization from the beginning.
Our Ideal Candidate Looks Like:
  • Experience building production-grade AI systems using modern agentic workflows and LLMs.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals with Python preferred (TypeScript also relevant).
  • Demonstrated experience shipping software into production and understanding the realities of operating customer-facing systems.
  • Experience with workflow automation, integrations or API-heavy products.
  • Fintech, payments, ERP, accounting or financial workflow experience is highly desirable.
  • Startup or founding engineering experience where you've owned ambiguous product problems from idea through production.
  • Curious, humble, collaborative and eager to continuously learn as AI capabilities evolve.
  • Comfortable moving quickly while maintaining engineering quality and good technical judgment.
  • Bonus points for customer-facing experience or the ability to collaborate directly with enterprise customers and partners.
