How Will I Make An Impact? 


As a key leader of Communitech, you’ll help tech and tech-enabled companies thrive in Waterloo Region and around the world.


As the leader of their Marketing, Events and Communications teams, you will develop and drive initiatives that help their member companies grow by “telling their stories”, championing the tech Ecosystem, building the Communitech brand, and supporting internal teams.


How Do I Know If This Is For Me?


As the VP of Marketing & Communications, you’ll get to:


  • Provide leadership and vision for Communitech’s strategic and integrated marketing and communications functions.

  • Oversee the deployment of Marketing, Events and Communications functions in support of growth initiatives targeting their members and highlighting our Waterloo Region ecosystem while maintaining a customer-centric mindset.

  • Build the Communitech brand as the voice of the organization and champion of the Ecosystem with a focus of “punching above our weight”.

  • Create and foster an environment of storytelling to showcase/promote their member companies and to demonstrate the value of the services that Communitech provides.

  • Utilize internal and external resources to provide timely, cost-effective services for their internal teams. 

  • Oversee the execution of targeted market-based events that serve to educate, inform and promote their members and to build the brand and reputation of their members and ecosystem.

  • Amplify the Communitech narrative with all constituent audiences.

  • Create an open, team-building work environment, motivating staff and cultivating productive, collaborative relationships with all constituent groups.

  • Facilitate a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage all those with diverse backgrounds.


Do I Have What It Takes? (Requirements)


Here’s what you’ll bring:


  • A proven track record demonstrating strategic expertise, analytical skills, and online marketing expertise

  • Experience as a marketing leader, managing brands and teams

  • Previous tech industry experience is helpful but not necessary

  • Experience interfacing with Board Members and CEO’s directly

  • A strategic approach and hands-on attitude - a desire and ability to roll up your sleeves and work alongside those you will manage and mentor.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively both inside and outside the organization

  • History of retaining, developing, motivating and mentoring a collaborative and high performing marketing team capable of exceeding ambitious goals.

  • Mission driven and energetic, resilient and personally committed to achieving success

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that persuade and inspire others
