  • Spare Labs is a Canadian company and the leading provider of mobility software. Its platform allows transportation providers both in the public and private sectors to automate their network’s day-to-day on-demand mobility operations. 

  • Their philosophy especially targets paratransit and the B2B spaces (think: Uber for buses)

  • Their mission is to democratize access to transportation and change the mobility landscape. They’ve launched a smart transportation service, bringing efficient on-demand ride-hailing and pooling services to communities across the globe.

  • They oversubscribed on an $18M Series A led by Inovia Capital with participation from Kensington Capital, Link VC, Ramen VC, Ridge Ventures, TransLink Capital etc.

  • Their toolkit, which includes data-driven transit planning, analytics dashboards and a purpose-built customer relationship management hub, enables anyone to operate an efficient on-demand mobility service.

  • They’ve partnered with Lyft (amongst other companies) as well as many government organizations.

How Will I Make An Impact?

​

Spare Labs is looking for an innovative people leader who’s seen scale and can be a strategic advisor to the founding team. Reporting to the Co-Founder/COO, we’re looking for a big picture thinker who can drive Spare’s values, incredible culture and integrate strategy and tactics as the team goes through rocketship growth.

​

How Do I Know If This Is For Me?

​

  • Be a culture leader, developing and upholding our People & Culture strategy;

  • Continue to build a People strategy that aligns with our mission and guiding principles, including hiring, retention, engagement, L&D, DEI and remote work strategies;

  • Be heard, as a core member of the executive team, in company strategy meetings and board meetings;

  • Partner with founders and managers across the business to drive growth through growth org structure planning, skill gap analysis, performance management and leadership development;

  • Grow our People Ops & Talent team to scale with the business, not based on the number of roles to fill, but on needs, skill sets, and growth & development opportunity;

  • Define our compensation philosophy, using a data-driven and people-centric approach;

  • Be strategic + hands on

  • Refresh process around performance management, comp & leveling, tools & systems

  • Use data to drive decision making

  • Is empathetic and people first
     

You will manage large People initiatives like employer branding, Best Workplace applications, and BCorp Applications.

 

By 90 days, you should have a solid understanding of what we have built up until this point, so that you can start building on the hiring & retention strategy, and begin execution of the first major milestones in this strategy.

Our Ideal Candidate Looks Like:

​

  • You have experience building People strategy in a remote-first company;

  • You have not only managed, but scaled a People Ops/Talent team;

  • You combined a data-driven and people-centric approach to culture and strategy;

  • You love being a mentor and a coach across the business, building and scaling training, as well as people development;

  • A strong L&D or facilitation background is an asset.
