Who Is Mappedin & How Are They Changing the World?

Mappedin powers search and discovery indoors. Think of all the times you have entered a massive building and felt lost. Their software platform provides industry-leading tools for property owners and operators to manage their dynamic indoor information and build digital wayfinding experiences into their customer-facing applications.

Founded in 2011, Mappedin is headquartered in Waterloo, Canada. They got their start working with shopping centres, providing digital wayfinding to shoppers. Today, the majority of Class A malls around the world use their indoor mapping platform. 

Over the years they started to work with different industries as well to gain valuable insights into the challenges they were facing. This has led to the company’s expansion from mall-focused wayfinding products to flexible mapping tools and SDKs that can serve a much broader base of use cases and industries. Their mission is simple  - to provide simple indoor mapping tools and digital wayfinding experiences to all indoor spaces. 

In 2020, Mappedin signed up a national sporting league, the US Department of Homeland Security, and ServiceNow to integrate their mapping tools, alongside many other new customers. In 2021 to date, Mappedin has already doubled their number of customers (many being Fortune 500 companies and very recognizable brands), most of that growth coming from non-retail verticals and platform integrations.

Recently named one of Canada’s Top Growing Companies for 2021 in the Globe and Mail Report on Business ranking, Mappedin earned its spot with three-year growth of 155%. With over 60 employees and more hiring to come, they are well-positioned for growth.

How Will I Make An Impact?

 

This is a new role for Mappedin, reporting to the CEO/Founder. As VP of Partnerships, you will be creating a category in a greenfield industry and introducing partners to something entirely new. 

 

You will build a strategy for large channel and integration partners that is disruptive. This includes: market research, outreach, relationship building, pre-sale demos and presentations, working with other Mappedin stakeholders to negotiate partnership agreements, closing some initial deals, and then helping other Mappedin teams operationalize the partnerships. 

 

In your first year, you will build an integrated plan focused on growth in a global market, with the drive and intention to build a partnership and alliances program.

How Do I Know If This Is For Me?

  • You have industry mapping solution experience - you know the big players and are connected within the industry. You’re familiar with integrated workplace management systems and see the potential for indoor mapping solutions. 

  • You have enterprise sales experience - you’re a hunter with proven sales success in bringing in new large customers/partners. 

  • You’re technical enough to be selling an innovative platform and educating partners in a new category & providing feedback back to the product team. 

  • This is a scale-up - you enjoy a fast-paced environment with ambiguity and autonomy that values speed over structure.

  • You are a confident senior enterprise seller.

  • You are a technology-first seller, who has experience in mapping or spatial management.

  • You are confident with designing and implementing a partner strategy.

  • You consider yourself a disruptor with an inclusive approach, you know how to get people on board with your ideas!

The Process:

We'll work closely with you through every step of the process:

  1. The first conversation is with our Artemis lead, Steph, to walk through your background and motivations as we get to know you. 

  2. Meet with the CEO to understand the vision and direction for this role. 

  3. Executive team 1:1’s to learn more about the GTM strategy from peers.

  4. Learn more about the product from a Solutions Consultant.

  5. And finally, meet with one or two Board Members.
