Who Is The Accelerator Centre & How Are They Changing the World?


The Accelerator Centre is the world’s #1 full-stack startup hub. They provide targeted, hands-on support to hundreds of hand-picked, curated start-up tech companies as they grow their businesses and expand to national and international markets. They’re on a mission to lead the global innovation economy by 2025. To do that, they’re expanding their programs to meet the needs of diverse stakeholders including startups, corporate leaders, academia, and community partners. Not to mention, they’re building stronger connections with the global community, providing pathways for new companies to break into international markets and find investment opportunities. 


How Will I Make An Impact?

As the VP Operations, you will be responsible for the AC’s culture & organization, finance and accounting oversight, facilities, overseeing the project management office, and alumni and other tech ecosystem relations. You’ll provide overall support and leadership to operational staff, build strong relationships with their Board of Directors & other key stakeholders, and develop new policies and frameworks that support the AC’s growth and vision. You will:


  • Work closely with the CEO to ensure implementation of strategic initiatives across the organization’s Strategic business units.

  • Continuously evaluate performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics from different parts of the organization including staff, Board and start-up clients

  • Manage reporting (financial, operational and strategic) to the CEO, committees and the Board 

  • Continue and develop new project management methodologies to manage timely, efficient and outcome-based deliverables to internal and external stakeholders

  • Liaise with HR partners to ensure appropriate staffing levels, and effective organizational structure and capability

  • Ensure the organization’s facility (real estate) strategy continue to meet the needs of clients and employees

  • Oversee organization’s adherence to operational budget, always with an eye for growth opportunities and fiscal responsibility

  • Foster, develop, and liaise with key stakeholders including industry, government and community partners to advance the development of strategic relationships and funding objectives.

  • Manage future funding opportunities (public and private) and government initiatives; drive proposal development and grant strategies for the Accelerator Centre

As an operations leader, you’re able to juggle various responsibilities simultaneously and change priorities as needed. You’re a relationship builder, a great presenter, a strong writer - oh, and of course - you love working with data. 

Our Ideal Candidate Looks Like:

You have:

  • Proven, senior-level experience managing an organization with strategic objectives, direct reports, budgets, and executable plans

  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics

  • Strong grasp of operational tools, platforms and an overall technology evangelist that supports scaling up of the organization 

  • Aptitude in decision making and problem solving, based on insights driven from data and performance metrics

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and execute on strategic deliverables, including the conceptualization, development, launch and management of new programs and projects.

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively convey factual and conceptual information on issues requiring detailed explanation and interpretation.

  • The ability to serve as an effective and credible spokesperson.

  • Well-developed writing skills sufficient to creatively and precisely articulate ideas and opinions that involve analysis, interpretation, and assessment.

  • Strong oral and written communications skills.

  • Proven project and program management skills, including the ability to lead, work effectively with a team to develop and execute work plans.


Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with start-up incubators, accelerators, ecosystem hubs, or with start-ups directly

  • Have had a successful entrepreneurial journey

  • Cross-cultural or international acumen, enabling us to build strong relationships with stakeholders across Canada and/or around the world

Salary Range: CAD $105,000 to CAD $145,000 base + bonus

The Process:

After an initial introductory call with me (Negin), the interview process is:

  1. Interview with CEO & Vice Chair, Board of Directors

  2. Interview with the AC Senior team

  3. Final Presentation / Case Study to the CEO
