Tips for Virtual Job Fairs

In the second part of our series, we'll be highlighting tips for Virtual Job Fairs. Check out the first part of our series " New to Canada and Navigating the Tech Job Market? We can Help!"

  • Housekeeping - Ensure you have a strong internet connection and you are in a quiet area. Test your microphone and camera ahead of time

  • Dress YOUR best- if that means a suit or a t-shirt, wear what you’re most confident and comfortable in so that carries over in your video chats

  • Prepare ahead of time- when possible try to look into the platform the virtual job fair will be hosted on ahead of time to familiarize yourself with the technology.

  • Come prepared with questions- remember those news sites we just mentioned… do your homework and research the companies you could potentially be talking to

  • It’s a marathon not a sprint- Let’s be honest… being on video calls for hours is exhausting! Don’t feel obligated to talk to every single company present at the event, instead short list the companies you are really interested in and make meaningful connections.
