IT Manager - ESCRYPT
Are you looking for a role with full responsibility and autonomy in leading the IT functions of an office? Do you excel at developing relationships with executive level management, locally and globally? Are you excited about cloud technology and the opportunities that autonomous vehicles present? Then this might be the role for you!

Who Is ESCRYPT & How Are They Changing the World?
Artemis Canada has partnered with ESCRYPT Canada to find an IT Manager to lead them through their next stage of growth.
In 2016, Germany’s Bosch Group chose to invest in the Waterloo Region through a wholly-owned subsidiary called ESCRYPT Canada. The location of Waterloo was an easy choice because of the strong talent pool and research expertise in both security and automotive.
ESCRYPT Canada is a leader in embedded security, with a focus on secure connected vehicles, smart cities, and Internet-of-Things (IoT). Today, their Waterloo location is the company’s technical headquarters for North America. After opening up their office four years ago, they are now a team of 40 employees - predominately engineers.
ESCRYPT believes that the security and privacy of every device is important. Their mission is to bring safety and peace of mind to an increasingly connected and data-driven world. As IoT continues to explode and connect even the smallest, formerly innocuous aspects of our world, ESCRYPT technology gives its customers the edge to keep data safe. Internationally active and fast-growing, ESCRYPT supports all industry segments in need of security solutions for embedded systems, including automotive, industrial control systems, energy, and consumer electronics.
How Will I Make An Impact?
You will be the sole dedicated IT resource in the Waterloo office, so we’re looking for a generalist (responsible for laptops, phones, servers, network, cloud and security), with extensive experience supporting a software development organization. The development teams use agile methodologies, and work on both embedded and cloud/back-end products.

Escrypt’s IT situation may be unlike any you have ever encountered. They maintain some of their own development infrastructure, with a high degree of independence, similar to the environment at a start-up. That independence (and accompanying need for hands-on care) is accompanied, however, by the need to comply with a thorough array of directives from their parent company, Bosch. Similarly, day-to-day IT operations are a mix of distributed tasks and centralized frameworks.

How Do I Know If This Is For Me?
Day-to-day, you will:
-
Assist co-workers with IT needs, troubleshooting, problem resolution
-
Act as first-level support, when the second level is at central service IT
-
Set up new users, and manage security, passwords and backup
Regarding infrastructure, you will:
-
Maintain internal IT systems and services (e.g. VPN, storage, backup, monitoring)
-
Maintain local server room infrastructure (e.g. power, cooling, cabling, network)
-
Install and configure IT solutions
-
Recommend improvements to IT systems
-
Liaise with vendors and Bosch IT personnel for problem resolution
You are forward-looking and proactive:
-
You stay up-to-date with current field practices to enhance service standards and delivery
-
You lead and/or contribute to strategic planning for further development of the infrastructure and services
-
You develop and maintain automation solutions that improve organization efficiency
You may also, depending on your qualifications and interests, have a role in dev-ops:
-
Maintaining the CI/CD infrastructure
-
In close collaboration with the development teams, planning and implementing infrastructure improvements

Do I Have What It Takes? (Requirements)
-
We are looking for a driven and smart individual, passionate about continuous learning, who is looking to apply their skills in a challenging and innovative field with:
-
8+ years of experience in IT roles, 3+ years as IT lead/manager
-
Hold Cisco network certification
-
Personal requirements:
-
Mature and effective communication and influencing skills
-
Goal-oriented mindset and strong analytical skills
-
Open communication, which we find particularly important in our international and multicultural development environment
-
Strive for excellent quality
-
Self-starter with great initiative, but also a team player with focus on reaching team goals

Note: There will be a mix of in-office and work-from-home for the foreseeable future. Although ESCRYPT employees will generally be given the option of choosing their workplace, the nature of your responsibilities will require your presence in the office, likely at least two days per week, plus when required for unexpected essential services.
