Director, Engineering- Arctic Wolf Networks

Are you intrigued by challenges in cybersecurity? Are you excited about the idea of scaling and mentoring a team? Then you should check out this role.

Artemis Canada has partnered with Arctic Wolf Networks (AWN) to find a new Director of Engineering (R&D).

Arctic Wolf Networks (AWN) is developing a platform and suite of solutions and services to ensure that mid-sized enterprises can operate with the peace of mind that their data and systems are secure and that they will not suffer from security-related business disruptions.

With the nature of security threats constantly changing, it is the small and midsized organizations that are most vulnerable. Arctic Wolf can augment a generalist IT function, with tools and experts that are tuned for needs of today and tomorrow. Where large enterprises often employ a team of security experts, Arctic Wolf enables all companies to leverage the best security solutions with a service offering that sits on their advanced security platform and solutions.

This is an exciting time for AWN! They’re working on their next generation of products that will automate all roles within a world class security organization, extending a platform-based service offering to clients that will be tailor-made for their unique needs.

With a significant round of funding, they are transitioning the business from a SOC (Security Operations Center) as a service company to a platform/product company. To do this well, they are looking to grow their senior R&D team.

How Will I Make An Impact?

This is a pivotal time in AWN’s journey - they’re planning to add about 70-80 R&D team members over the next 12 months. You’ll get to work closely with VP R&D, Dinah Davis, to mentor the team and be responsible for the direction, operation, and scaling of the development teams supporting the Security Operations Platforms. The scope of the role includes ensuring the execution of the product roadmap, managing the R&D budget, hiring talent, and enabling the career growth of our team members.

You will work closely with the Product and Security Engineering organizations to create their next generation, best in class Security Operations platform.

To do so, you will:

  • Lead by example - Instill the Arctic Wolf Development Principles by living them on a daily basis.

  • Execute the product roadmap

  • Ensure teams are highly motivated, performing well, and delivering work on time.

  • Remove any blockers preventing teams from getting their work done.

  • Make sure each team is clear on the objectives and goals they are striving to achieve.

  • Work with team members to deliver the key features, as defined in the R&D Programs.

  • Work with architecture staff to define and execute on the company's technical roadmap.

  • Oversee the full software development life cycle.

  • Ensure the team is following SOC2 regulations

  • Secure Coding Practices

  • Ensure Acceptable Use

  • Support career development of department employees

  • Conduct regular One-on-Ones

How Do I Know If This Is For Me?

AWN really focuses on supporting the career progression of all employees. Not only will you get to mentor and support the growth of your team members, but you will receive career and personal development coaching as well.

If you value a supportive, collaborative culture, AWN might be a good fit! Maintaining their amazing culture as they scale is of utmost importance to the AWN leadership team.
