Sonova is excited to launch a solutions and technology innovation lab at the Communitech Hub. The lab will be a centre for innovation excellence and experimentation to help Sonova imagine and create the future in assisted hearing and other consumer solutions. They’re looking for a Design Lead; someone who is comfortable working in a fast paced environment, and working closely with a shifting team to create innovative new products.

How Will I Make An Impact?

  • You’ll get to work closely across internal teams and get to understand their challenges. You’ll help those teams innovate and introduce approaches such as design thinking, lean, agile, prototyping, and user testing.
     

  • You’ll get to mentor and lead a small design team at the Communitech Lab location, and you’ll get to engage with customers and partners within the Communitech ecosystem.
     

  • Most importantly, you’ll improve the lives of consumers by helping Sonova build meaningful, customer-centered products and services.
     

  • You will perform usability testing to generate data that allows informed product direction decisions to be made to achieve the best UX outcome and maintain a library of learnings.

  • You’re excited to work closely with a team of Product Managers and Developers to create new products to enhance our customer experience
     

  • You can participate in Design Sprints to quickly market-test how a prototype should really look and function
     

  • You love to mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to Design Co-op students to help them grow
     

  • You’re comfortable shaping sprint demos and pitch concepts to senior technical executives as well as sharing technical and business insights from projects with other teams
     

  • You’re excited to promote user-centred design and guide technological change at Sonova
     

  • You can identify and distill complex problems and design simple and enjoyable solutions
     

  • You can work closely with the Development Lead to ensure technical needs are met while maintaining a strong focus on the user experience
     

  • You can learn from failure, celebrate wins, and achieves results
     

Do I Have What It Takes? (Requirements)

  • You have a degree in Systems Design Engineering, Interaction Design, or other design-related degrees
     

  • You get stuff done and have a bias to action
     

  • You have experience working with startups/scaleups and Corporate
     

  • You have experience with and interest in managing and mentoring students / employees
     

  • You come with a proven track record for taking ideas from inception to deployment, delivering significant business results and experiences that customers love
     

  • You apply the right tools to tackle problems; You have experience working in lean, agile and other dynamic environments.
     

  • You have been the driver of user-centred UX strategy best practices, principles, and methodology
     

  • You have experience in conceptual development and rapid creative prototyping as well as tactical UI design and implementation.
     

  • You are exceptionally organized and have strong communication and interpersonal skills
